WhatsApp users dead after the big change in the application has finally caught up with everyone

WhatsApp users say they want to vomit after opening the app today

Well, brother, she! WhatsApp? WhatsApp brother?

WhatsApp users say they ‘want to vomit’ after waking up to one of the new changes to the app.

Now owned by tech giant Meta, WhatsApp recently announced some of the biggest updates for iPhone and Android in years.

Among the changes, Idit Yaniv, WhatsApp’s Head of Design at Meta, says the app has now introduced ‘better organizational tools for messages’.

“Recently, we introduced chat filters that help you focus and find important conversations faster. Moving the navigation bar on Android to the bottom allowed us to design filters to be at the top of the chat list, so so people can quickly find the right conversations without going through their full inbox,” she explained.

“Now, you can choose between unread and group filters with just one tap to catch up on missed messages or your favorite group chats.”

The tech company has also updated its icons ‘to a more rounded and outlined style’ to give a ‘more vibrant aesthetic’.

“We’re also refreshing the original default background in chats. We learned that most people use doodles, but there was an opportunity to make this even more unique and relevant to everyday chats,” added Yaniv.

“Our team revisited each piece of doodle artwork and explored new options that were simple in style and better represented a diverse group of people and objects.”

However, the changes listed above aren’t the problem here, instead it’s the new ‘green’ theme that’s making people angry.

Taking to X, one disgruntled user commented: “My WhatsApp just turned green. I want to vomit.”

A second added: “This green WhatsApp update is giving me a headache because wtf is everything green?”

While a third wrote: “Ewwwwwwww why has WhatsApp changed to green? This is worse than all caps”

Not everyone was so offended though, as someone else opined: “I love all the green that WhatsApp added to the app.”

“By now everyone is used to and adjusted to the new green right of Whatsapp? It’s not that terrible right?” a fifth was asked.

WhatsApp said that

WhatsApp said it “considered over 35 different color iterations”. (meta)

Explaining the color change, Yaniv said: “We considered over 35 different color iterations, ultimately aligning with WhatsApp’s iconic green color and choosing a palette that allows for harmonious color pairings throughout the app.

“We also increased the use of neutral colors, enabling us to be more selective about where and how green is used.”

Users have also called for a “darker mode” and WhatsApp has made improvements to give the theme a higher contrast with deeper tones to “reduce eye strain in low light environments”.
